Consulting Philosophy for Extraordinary Giving
Why do people give?
This very important question is usually addressed with cliché answers such as: “people give because they are asked” or “people give to people.” MAP’s philosophy and central fundraising principle is rooted in the answer to this question.
We see this in the scientific principle that “every action has an equal and opposite reaction.” In philanthropy, this principle has as much meaning and relevance in describing the actions of your donors as it does in describing the physical world around us. Your donors will give in proportion to the extent to which their personal interests and passions have been met. Non-profit organizations are challenged to discover and proactively address prospective donors’ passions and interests. Only then will donors be compelled to meet and exceed the organization’s financial needs.
We believe people give when the recipient of the gift
has addressed the donor’s passions and interests.
