Linda Akau
Executive Assistant

Linda has more than 15 years of experience providing administrative support in the nonprofit fundraising field. In her role as Executive Assistant with MAP, she utilizes her comprehensive skills to create/proof/edit a wide range of documents – from proposals, contracts, and presentations for the Sales Team to client-specific documents for the Client Services Team. She also serves as MAP’s document manager, maintaining all pertinent information on the company’s SharePoint site.

Just prior to joining MAP, Linda served in administrative support roles in a Biophysics lab and the President’s Office at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. In these roles, she interacted with top-level executives and professors, arranged travel, worked on a variety of documents and spreadsheets, and updated processes so administrative systems in both areas flowed more efficiently.

A native Texan, Linda spent most her life in the Dallas area. However, she and her husband, Derrick, recently moved to his hometown of Kamuela, Hawaii, and are now unofficial tour guides when family and friends come to visit. Linda and Derrick met and married at the church they attended in Texas and now serve in their historic local church on the Big Island. Between them, they have six children and five grandchildren. These days, besides working, they are staying busy with the newest addition to their family: a mixed breed puppy named Malu (“Shadow” in English) that they adopted from the Humane Society while on a recent stay-cation.
