Karen Cochran

Karen has over 20 years of experience working with nonprofits in various roles, which gives her a broad understanding of Mission Advancement’s clients. As a MAP Consultant, Karen uses her expertise to provide capital campaign and development counsel to Dallas/Fort Worth area nonprofits, helping them meet their philanthropic goals by using relationship based fundraising to build strong and meaningful partnerships. 

Most recently in higher education, Karen worked as Associate Director of Development at the University of Texas at Austin, Jackson School of Geoscience and as Regional Director of Development for Texas Christian University. Previously, Karen served as Executive Director of Fort Worth Sister Cities International and as Director of Promotions for Downtown Fort Worth, Inc. In addition, Karen has served as a board member and volunteer for numerous organizationswhich gives her a unique perspective of the complex issues faced by nonprofits. 

Karen was born in Naples, Italy, where her father was stationed in the Air Force, and lived in various US cities before settling in Fort Worth, Texas. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Education. Karen has two grown children, daughter Natalie and son Reeb. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as hiking, dancing, horseback riding, and traveling. She is an active member of her church and a volunteer with the Junior League of Fort Worth.
