A seasoned nonprofit fundraiser and consultant, Sara Wise has dedicated her career to the nonprofit sector, with over two decades serving organizations in education, social services, cultural, and fine arts.
Sara’s professional experience includes fundraising at St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School in Virginia, the Episcopal School of Dallas, American Red Cross Greater Houston Chapter, and the Houston Zoo. Since becoming a consultant in 2016, Sara has worked with dozens of nonprofits to execute development strategy, events, board strategic retreats, capital campaigns, and more. In addition, she has enjoyed sharing her passion for the nonprofit sector by teaching at Rice University’s Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership, as well as with other organizations and groups.
Beyond her work, Sara has served the community through various volunteer leadership roles with the Salvation Army Greater Houston Command, Texas Executive Women, the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation, and Strawbridge United Methodist Church. She has actively participated in various leadership roles with the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater Houston Chapter, and most recently served as chapter president in 2019.
A summa cum laude graduate of Texas Christian University and member of Phi Beta Kappa, Sara is married to the Honorable Ken Wise, a justice on the 14th Court of Appeals in the Houston area and host of the popular Wise About Texas history podcast. She is also the proud mother to two children, Jackson and Sarah Jane.
